Time for your WoF? Come see us!
A Warrant of Fitness is essential, both to keep you safe on the road, and out of trouble with the authorities!
Do I need a WoF?
Yes! You are require by law to have a WoF, so there’s no point putting it off. If your car is relatively new (less than 6 years old), then you need a Warrant of Fitness every year. If you’re driving a car that’s a wee bit older, then you’re required to have one every 6 months.
What does it involve?
A WoF is an overall check-up of your car to make sure it’s road-worthy. Essential components of your vehicle are checked, such as
- Brakes
- Tyres (tread & pressure)
- Lights (headlight and breaklights)
- Steering
- Suspension
- Seatbelts
- Airbags
- Speedometer
- Fuel System
Can any mechanic give me a WoF?
No, only mechanics who have completed the Warrant Inspector Course are allowed to legally give your vehicle the all clear. On top of this, only those mechanics who work for a shop that is an authorised agent of the NZ Transport Agency can do the inspection. This means, even though your mate is a mechanic, if he doesn’t work for a garage that can officially give WoFs, then there’s no point having him look at it.
How much does it cost?
A WoF will vary from business to business, but we here at A Grade Automotive guarantee all our work, and are usually much cheaper than some of the bigger brands.
Remember, it is your responsibility to maintain your vehicle. Whether it is a car, moped or truck, everyone needs a WoF. Call us today to organise a time, and we’ll get you back on the road, safe and sound.
